This is an electronic keypad lock designed to be added to panic exit devices (also called crash bars or panic bars). It installs in place of the trim plate that would normally cover the exit device and allows for electronic access control via a digital keypad.
The panic bar (crash bar) mechanism itself, which is the part that allows emergency egress by pushing on the bar to open the door, remains unchanged. The ETDL27S1G simply adds keypad-controlled access and may also include features like audit trails and time-zone control for entry, as part of an access control system.
